The new indoor maps are just awesome. Instead of walking to the end of the international terminal at Haneda to see if there was a better place to get a beer, I just checked the phone, turned around, and went to Curacion Cafe, where I am now. The wifi-based location is also quite good - only off by about 20 m, which is not bad for indoors.
If you are looking for an indoor Wi-Fi location system that can do 1 meter accuracy you can call me, but yeah, 20 meters for a free system is pretty impressive. What I would like to find out is how well it works inside a shopping center when you have multiple floors.
ReplyDeleteI would take a look on XDA for a specific thread relating to the Japanese model. I am guessing that the hardware might be slightly different requiring a different kernel and baseband. For the Galaxy S2 in Japan we are required to flash a specific kernel and the original baseband to get GPS and radio to work properly after installing a ROM.
ReplyDeleteI got mine yesterday. The xda threads indicate that folks were able to flash a new baseband and ROM without issue, their concern is that it will mess with their unlimited data. Any cause for concern there? I'd really like to flash the stock image but am holding back for fear of a huge usage bill.
